NEWS: General Assembly on Malta: MESMA framework ready for testing
The systematic framework to evaluate marine spatial management plans is now ready to be tested by the 9 case studies.

In 2010, MESMA scientists have set-up the framework, which was presented at the MESMA General Assembly meeting on Malta. The framework is a step wise approach to systematically evaluate management plans in different European marine areas. To see if the framework is successful in real life, MESMA uses a range of existing situations in European seas to test it, the MESMA case studies.

The case studies, each with their own specific setting of human uses, nature conservation targets and policies, will therfore serve as laboratories to test the framework. The first 'test run' in 2011 should make clear whether the framework is fine, or requires some adaptations.
